What is pharmacy?

A pharmacy course is a professional health care program specialized in the field of Medicine / Drugs. Pharmacists are drug experts.

Which subjects we study in pharmacy?

The subjects in pharmacy include Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacognosy and other related subjects.

What is the difference between D. Pharmacy and B. Pharmacy course?

D. Pharmacy is full time 2 years diploma course with annual examination pattern, affiliated to Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE).

B. Pharmacy is full time 4 years degree course with semester examination pattern (8 semesters) affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University (DBATU).

CET is not necessary for D. Pharmacy admission while MHT-CET/NEET (PCB/PCM /PCMB) are compulsory to get admission in B pharmacy.

Study of pharmacy subjects is concise in diploma while subjects matter is detail in Degree.

What is the eligibility criterion for diploma and degree course of pharmacy?

For First Year D. Pharmacy

The Candidates should be an Indian national. The Candidate should have passed the HSC examination with Physics & Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the subjects Mathematics or Biology (Botany & Zoology).

For First Year B. Pharmacy

Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics or Biology and obtained at least 45% marks (i.e. 135 mark/out of 300 marks) & for Reserved Category 40% marks (i.e. 120 marks/out of 300 marks). Candidate should obtain non-zero score in MHT- CET-2023 or NEET-2023 (All India candidature).

SCPHR offers D. Pharmacy and B. Pharmacy course.

What is the admission process for D. Pharmacy?

Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) shall admit the candidate through centralized admission process (CAP). For further details, please refer to https://phd23.dtemaharashtra.gov.in/ website.

Admission at Institutional quota is also possible or you may take provisional admission.

What is the admission process for B. Pharmacy?

The admission to first year of B. Pharmacy is based on the marks obtained in MHT-CET exam. The candidates take admission through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). For further details please refer www.mahacet.org

What are the job opportunities after pharmacy course?

Pharmacy profession provides wide carrier opportunities. A registered pharmacist can have its own retail outlet/shop; can be a part of chain pharmacy, wholesale distributor, clinical pharmacist, drug counselor. Government job opportunities include drug Inspector (after completing B. Pharmacy) or Government hospital pharmacist. Pharmaceutical marketing, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, forensic pharmacy, clinical research, research field etc are different fields where pharmacist play a vital role.

Is the college approved by PCI?

Yes, SCPHR College is approved by Pharmacy Council of India.

The college is under which board/University?

The college is affiliated to Maharashtra State board of Technical Education (MSBTE), Mumbai for D. Pharmacy course.

B. Pharmacy course is affiliated to university Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University (DBATU), Lonere, Raigad (M. S.).

What are the various resources available in the college?

The college laboratories are ready with the latest upgraded instruments and equipments. College is well set with knowledge resource center (Library) provides information support to scientific staff and students, using both archival print resources and contemporary digital resources with furnished reading room. What is the intake capacity for D. Pharmacy and B. Pharmacy?

For both courses (D. & B. Pharmacy) 60 seats intake is granted. Both B. Pharmacy and D. Pharmacy seats will be filled through centralized admission procedure CAP – 80% seats; 20% seats will be filled through institute quota.

Is CET necessary for D. Pharmacy?

No, CET is not needed for D. Pharmacy course.

Are there any options to select the subject during the course?

No, all the subjects during the four year B. Pharmacy course are compulsory except in  the 7 /8 Semesters.

For NEET qualified students, is mathematics a mandatory subject in first year syllabus?

Yes, student who does not have mathematics as one of the subject in 10+2 has to attempt Remedial Mathematics in first semester of pharmacy.

Is there any additional subject need to study in B. Pharmacy for students with PCM/PCB group?

Yes, Remedial biology or remedial mathematics is the additional subject need to study in first semester of B. Pharmacy for the students with PCM or PCB group, respectively.

What is the cut off for both courses?

As SGI’s SCPHR has started pharmacy in academic year 2023, it has no cut off list.

What is the fee structure for D. Pharmacy and B. Pharmacy?

As per Fee Regulating Authority (FRA), Maharashtra State.

Where is the college located and what is the mode of transport to reach the college?

College is located at Bavdhan, Pune. Student may come by own vehicle or city bus. The distance from Pune International Airport is 20 Km, from Railway Station (Pune Station) is 13.6 Km and from Bus Stand (Swarget Bus Stand Pune) is 11.8 Km.

Are hostel facilities available with SCPHR?

Around the vicinity of campus separate girls, boys and PG accommodation facilities are available with varying range.

Whether college provides campus placements facility?

The organization has an excellent placement record. We have separate Training and Placement cell operating under the valuable guidance of experience academic plus corporate officer. Organization is located in vicinity of various Industries and corporate offices which help us for training & placement.  More than 90% of students of SGI registered with Training & Placement Office, are placed in reputed industries in diverse sectors as per the choice of the students.

Does college have any student welfare schemes?

The college has Earn and Learn scheme for all students.

What is procedure to avail loan facility?

College provides all necessary help to avail educational loan.

Is there any uniform for these courses?

Yes, students are required to wear college uniform as well as white Apron is compulsory for routine practical hours.

What co-curriculum and extracurricular activities are held in the college?

The organization organizes co-curriculum and extracurricular events for the students like Annual gathering, different day celebration, debate competitions, Indoor/Outdoor sports competitions etc and also encourages the students to participate in various inter-collegiate events.

What is the minimum attendance required for appearing for final exams?

80% attendance for both theory and practical is mandatory to appear in the final exams.

How can I assure about students safety/ security

The students are not allowed to enter the campus without I-card; there is only one gate entry with security guards. The campus is 24×7 hour under CCTV surveillance.

Again for any type of grievances, a special cell is working who conducts various resolving sessions time to time.

Is there any health care facility for students?

The students are examined for a basic check up as soon as they join the college and later in case of any need, they are provided the best of services.

What is the scope and placement of pharmacy course?

Both Pharmacy courses are job oriented courses and also has potential for self employment.

What efforts are taken by college for personality development of the students?

Students are trained not only for curriculum related topics but also exposed to soft skills,   communication skills and personality development. Various value added modules are available for the student’s over all development. Organization has various Industrial and professional memberships. We have been associated as life/fellow members of various management associations, chambers of commerce and industries with other socially relevant forums etc.

Does college conduct industry visits?

The college will organize industrial visits to get an insight of industrial culture to the students at the required course level.
